The Agri-Food Pilot Program
The Agri-Food Pilot Program is a Canadian immigration initiative designed to help address the labor shortages faced by the agri-food sector in Canada. The program was launched in May 2020 and is set to run until May 2023.
Under this program, eligible candidates can apply for permanent residency in Canada if they have a job offer from a designated employer in the agri-food sector.
The job offer must be in one of the following eligible occupations:
- Industrial Butchers
- Food Processing Laborers
- Harvesting Laborers for year-round mushroom production
- General Farm Workers
- Farm Supervisors and Specialized Livestock Workers
To be eligible for the program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Have a valid job offer from a designated employer in the agri-food sector
- Have 12 months of full-time, non-seasonal Canadian work experience in an eligible occupation in the past three years
- Meet the minimum language requirements in English or French
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Meet the requirements for admissibility to Canada, including security and medical clearances
